‘Who Cares’ in the Borders?.
ELEVEN participants of a new training programme found out the answer to the question ‘Who Cares?’ recently by taking part in a Course of the same name.
BC Consultants, working in partnership with NHS Borders, Scottish Borders Council Social Work Dept and Access to Industry specifically designed the ‘Who Cares?’ course to help people gain the essential skills that are required to work effectively in the Health and Social Care Sector.
The organisers of the course are particularly delighted by the way it has been supported by the Care and Health Sector across the Scottish Borders.
Janice Laing, Operational Lead, NHS Borders Training and Professional Development said, “This exciting course provides the opportunity for work within our health & social care environments. It provides opportunities locally to gain the skills, knowledge, experience and references to enable local people to access employment more easily”.
Local Councillor David Raw presented certificates to the first ever group of participants to successfully complete the Programme, at a ceremony at Ettrick Riverside. He commented on the value placed on the Care Sector in the Borders and the importance of training workers for the responsibilities they will be certain to encounter.
Following the huge success of the first ‘Who Cares?’ Course a second course was immediately arranged allowing another group of Borderers to gain the same caring skills. Programme partner, Access to Industry’s Cate Smith enthused that the Programme had been a very positive experience not only for the learners but also for local employers who now have new potential employees who have completed a very comprehensive package of training and are ready for employment.
