Double Celebration ~ Ten Years with Garvald.
Thirty-four members of Garvald Edinburgh were applauded by family members, friends and colleagues at their annual Skills Accreditation Programme award ceremony when they were presented with their certificates by Alison Craig, Columnist of the Sunday Mail. As well as celebrating members’ Skills Accreditation Programme successes, this year’s award ceremony at the St Bride’s Centre marked a decade of the highly successful partnership between Garvald Edinburgh and B C Consultants, who manage this unique programme. In the last ten years, around 700 Skills Accreditation Programme achievements have been attained by Garvald members in subjects as diverse as Art and Craft, Catering, Retail and Recycling. There are currently over 150 Skills Accreditation units available at both Entry level and level One, some of which have been written in consultation with Garvald workshop leaders to enable members’ more specialised skills (eg Making a Lyre and Restoration of Tools) to be assessed and accredited.
Specifically created by Borders College to acknowledge and accredit a wide range of skills development at basic levels, the Skills Accreditation Programme is certificated by national awarding body, NCFE, through the ‘Investing in Quality’ scheme.
