Grab the Chance.
Representatives from BC Consultants took part in a successful promotional event organised by Careers Scotland in October at Kelso Showground.
The day, entitled ‘Grab the Chance’, targeted Borders S4 – S6 pupils about to leave school but without any fixed destination. A number of employers, training providers and colleges had been invited to exhibit and meet with the young people to present an overview of the options available to them.
Springwood Hall was buzzing with young people as they sought to check out what might be on offer; stopping off at various stands set up by local and national organisations and gathering information and materials to enable them to make more effective choices.
The event itself proved very worthwhile for all taking part and certainly gave us the opportunity to confirm the main areas of interest among the young people and highlight where we might be able to support them with relevant training opportunities, including Get Ready for Work, Skillseekers and Modern Apprenticeships.
BC Consultants secured much interest from the pupils as they undertook an Identification Quiz: matching photographs of famous celebrities with the occupational areas currently offered by the company. The Quiz was won by a Hawick High School pupil, who was awarded a gift voucher.
