Why is staff development and training so important in management?
Effective management of staff is crucial in maintaining motivation, and high standards of performance. BC Consultants is able to assist organisations to achieve this goal through provision of a wide range of training solutions, through which organisations can encourage their staff to develop, maintain and continually improve the competencies needed.
What do we offer?
BC Consultants offers an extensive programme of management training and solutions to meet a wide variety of differing needs. We offer formal certified qualifications and/or attendance certificates that can be used to evidence continuous professional development.
Our flexibility and varied training and assessment options are our key strengths. Whether it’s a half-day short course or a programme leading to a professional development award or vocational qualification, we are able to help. Our courses range from introductory to advanced level. In order to meet customer needs our trainers can deliver on your premises or alternatively we will find a suitable venue.

What are Professional Development Awards?
Professional Development Awards are aimed at those in a career or vocation who wish to extend or broaden their skills and are made up of two SQA units. They enable the learner to develop specific management competences and demonstrate achievement of national recognised standards. They are assessed in the workplace. PDAs currently offered include...

What do SVQs include?
Mandatory units plus the opportunity to choose from a range of optional units to suit the individual's and company's particular needs.

SVQs Management
What is involved?
Flexible workplace learning and assessment: our Assessors will meet with candidates in the workplace and agree an individual learning plan with targets.
Who are these qualifications for?
Anyone who is employed in a management role
Where do they take place?
In the candidate’s workplace, but, if required, additional training and support can be provided at one of our Borders College sites.
When?
All year round! The duration of the programme is negotiable and dependent upon individual candidate progress. However, guidance is offered to businesses and individuals to ensure that the qualification is achieved within an agreed timetable in line with the needs of the business.
How much do they cost?
SVQ 3 £2,250 SVQ 4 £2,250 SVQ 5 £2,500 (PDA £550)
Funding may be available from Skills development Scotland for Modern Apprenticeships. PDAs are ILA approved.

Our short courses and training programmes can be tailored to suit your organisation and your employees. If you have fewer than 150 employees, you may be able to access funding for some of these qualifications from Skills Development Scotland and receive up to 50% of the costs towards your employees’ training needs.
